Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP)

In November 2019, the Canadian Department of Immigration introduced the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP). This initiative was launched in response to Canada’s aging population and declining birth rates, coupled with significant imbalances in development between major cities and remote rural areas. Labour forces in these remote regions were experiencing a substantial decline. The goal of this pilot project is to attract more new immigrants to settle in Canada’s remote areas, aiding in supporting the employment of the middle class in these communities. The pilot program spans five years, from 2019 to 2024, with an annual intake of 2,750 applications.
